Branch Inclusive Recreation Initiative:

The SACL is committed to developing inclusive recreation and leisure programs. This funding will support existing programs and/or the development of new ventures with a view to creating inclusive options. This support encourages development at a level where real change will occur for individuals and where community members may experience first hand the benefits of inclusive programs. Projects may be awarded per year to a maximum of $2,000 each. Proposals will be accepted once per year and successful applicants will be notified by April 30th. Proposals must be submitted/or endorsed by a branch of the SACL. A final report is required within four weeks at the end of the project. Projects must target individuals with disabilities and/or their families and must:

- Provide inclusive options focusing on accessing generic community-based recreation and leisure services

- Promote partnerships with other local agencies and programs

- Provide transferable models for other communities

- Provide for a local media announcement to create awareness in your community.

This grant is made possible through to the SACL from the Saskatchewan Lotteries.

Putting Life into the Community Projects:

Funds are made available to branches of the SACL to support community projects that are endorsed and supported by a branch for the purposes of inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities and their families. These funds are generated from province-wide donations of used clothing and household goods to the Saskatchewan Institute on Community Living. The total amount of funds available per fiscal year is $20,000. A final report is required within four weeks at the end of the project.

Projects must focus on at least one of the following areas for people with intellectual disabilities and/or their families:

- Enabling full citizenship for people with intellectual disabilities

- Creating greater public education and awareness about inclusion

- Promoting self-determination and empowerment

- Strengthening families and family support

- Provide for a local media announcement to create awareness in your community.

This grant is made possible through funding to the SACL from the Saskatchewan Institute on Community Living.

The SACL believes that people with and without disabilities can live side-by-side to enjoy true community living.
