What We Do


The Saskatchewan Association for Community Living (SACL) provides support in a variety of ways to individuals, parents, siblings, other family members, friends and community based organizations. The team is available to facilitate and mediate where barriers prevent individuals from realizing full citizenship in their community. They work collaboratively with the government and community based organizations to ensure that citizens of Saskatchewan who have intellectual disabilities are valued, supported and included members of society and have opportunities and choices in all aspects of life.  

Community Inclusion Consultants will often support an individual or family in a number of areas including, but not limited to:

  • Accessing Funding Supports
  • Education
  • Employment
  • Financial
  • Guardianship and Co-Decision Making
  • Health
  • Justice
  • Parent Supports
  • Residential/Housing
  • Respite
  • Wills and Estates

The Inclusion team also provides investigative support, mediation, and program review follow-up at the request of an individual, family or agency.

Building Community

The SACL’s Community Inclusion Consultants also work to build community capacity; engaging individuals to make their community a more inclusive and vibrant place.

We work to:

  • Connect family to family
  • Provide respite and mentor support
  • Support the development of new community based organizations
  • Develop the potential for people to improve and respond to the needs of their own community;
  • Offer tools, training and skill development that reflect regional needs and priorities – engaging stakeholders, supporting leadership development and providing resources to address local issues.
