The SACL is part
of a national network that supports people with intellectual disabilities
to build lives of involvement and meaning. We've been around for nearly
50 years and continue to create more accepting and welcoming attitudes
and inclusive opportunities for people with disabilities. We do this
work all over the province in many ways. That takes not only the work
of many volunteers and families, it takes money. One of the most public
ways we raise money is our recycling venture through our Institute
on Community Living.
Over a decade ago, we formed the Institute and a partnership with
Value Village Thrift Department Stores (Regina and Saskatoon). Our
part of the deal is to collect donations of household items, furniture,
linens, and particularly used clothing. We pick up free from people's
homes and from our 50 yellow drop-boxes around the province, and
deliver these donations to Value Village. We are paid for them.
Since our partnership began, we've helped recycle tons of good quality
used clothing and other items. To support the ongoing advocacy work
of the Association as we build better communities and support people
with intellectual disabilities and their families, all proceeds
stay in Saskatchewan. If you'd like to donate or want more information
